Key Duties & Responsibilities
 
  • Delivers margin goals
  • Manages vendor base and regulates production flow within vendor matrix.
  • Oversees monitoring of production and communication of production flow within vendor matrix.
  • Oversees development procedures and vendor cost negotiations.
  • Evaluates new vendors for inclusion in vendor matrix.
  • Facilitates the Production team’s partnership with Design and Merchandising in researching materials and fabrics.
  • Ensures all technical aspects of product are prepared for the production process.
  • Oversees the review of technical packages
  • Oversees and advises corrections to product specifications.
  • Oversees and participates in determining factory allocation strategy.
  • Negotiates directly with manufacturers to resolve large-scale quality issues and directs best course of action for resolution.
  • Conducts meetings for proto costs and previews and final buy presentation.
·         Oversees and approves final cost sheets
  • Provides development and training to direct reports through on-the-job training, behavioral feedback and modeling, coaching and identifying opportunities for formal training. 
 
Background Required
·         8 years progressive experience in apparel development and production including denim and knits. Screenprint experience is helpful. If experience is “higher end” must be excited about delivering a high quality product at a value price.
·         At least 2 years’ experience in fashion/apparel retail 
·         5 years management experience
·         Expert knowledge of production to include:
    • Fabric and garment construction
    • Manufacturing and product engineering
    • Trade regulations
    • Testing protocol
    • Product integrity
    • Production cycle timeline
    • Calendar management
    • Costing
  • Strong business management skills and knowledge of financials as it applies to business strategies.
