POSITION PURPOSE
Merchandising analyzes market trends, and previous sales numbers to determine the product direction that the brand will take each season. The department is responsible for developing seasonal product concepts based on thorough trend and competitive research and overall creative direction. The merchandising department manages seasonal product by brand/retailer and design execution for the business classification to achieve overall creative and business objectives. This includes fabric and trim selection, styling, washes, pattern design, and fit. We are also responsible for following, maintaining, and managing the steps of the merchandising calendar from season to season. Merchandising is responsible for ensuring sales has the proper tools needed for merchandising presentations. The department is responsible for ensuring sample goods meet quality standards, working with overseas factories to meet these standards and deadlines, and developing protocol to improve sampling quality up to the finalization of the sample lines to sales.
Experience Required: Two or more years experience in the design field of Infant-Toddler apparel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES
-Conceptualize, design and interpret styles through trend and product research.
-Complete line plan with all details of line development and effectively communicate details to assistant merchandiser, sample coordinator, tech design, art, and sourcing.
-Communicate and be able to manage an influx of emails accordingly and with priority.
-Organize thoroughly the line from development up to production, and be accountable for the samples that fall under your account.
-Complete follow up on all corrections and/or revisions to the line in forms of cads, samples, and line plan information. Be 100% accountable for your area of responsibility.
-Oversee and coordinate the development of product lines and at times the accessory/packaging materials from concept to completion, including but not limited to sourcing out and setting up relationships with suppliers (both domestic and international).
-Oversee and coordinate the development key fabrication and/or accessories from concept to completion, including but not limited to sourcing out and setting up relationships with suppliers (both domestic and international).
-Ordering and tracking supplier samples; evaluating samples and making changes and recommendations; tracking orders according to agreed upon timelines; and inspecting final samples upon receipt with team partners in Art and Tech Design.
-Coordinate/Assemble all sales tool presentation materials. (i.e. Books, story boards trend boards, fabric boards, CD Presentations), and orchestrates passing on all materials to proper parties.
-Conduct order review meetings to close out a line from development to productions and post all required production cads to the website.
-Evaluate orders during orders review to find ways to be cost effective in the design of the garments or detail changes or color way options on the bulk order.
-Demonstrates effective communication skills with all areas of Merchandising, Sourcing, Art, Tech Design, Sales and Customer Service.
-Perform or assist with special projects, as needed

QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification: Minimum of Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design,
Merchandising, or related field
Required Knowledge: Proficient and highly knowledgeable in Adobe Illustrator/Quark Express
Proficient and highly knowledgeable in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PPT, etc.)
Experience Required: Two or more years experience in the design field of Infant-Toddler apparel.

Strong oral and written communications abilities

Work directly with and mentor Assistant Merchandisers to grow their skill level
